VTG 50s Union Made USA CHESTERFIELD COAT MENS 44R Blk w/velvet collar Warner Co

Description: VTG 50s VELVET COLLAR BLACK WOOL FORMAL COAT. I believe these are referred to as Chesterfield coat. Exceptionally well made. MENS Sz 44R similar to a large or XL in modern size. Warner Co. Amalgamated Union Made in USA. Very high quality tailored overcoat. The coat only has 2 labels the Warner Co label and the Union label. The Union label is pre 1962 but I believe this coat dates further back to the mid 50s maybe even the 40s. This garment was included in an estate lot that I purchased. All the items were pre 1970s and had been in storage for a long time. Based on some research and the style I believe this comes from the thar era 40s to 50s. . Please note it is very difficult to date garments without modern tags or labels but this coat is very old. The coat is in great shape. No holes or tears or stains. It does pick up lint very easily. I brushed the coat vigorously with a horse hair brush and then hit it with a air compressor.. The coat is lined but I'm not sure what kind of material the lining is. If I had to guess I would say the lining feels like silk or accetate. The coat is single breasted . Definitely wool tweed very heavy material. It's is a very warm coat. Goes great with a Tux. The condition is incredible considering how long it's been in storage. Couldn't find any moth bites or issues with the liner like you see with most garment of this era. See pics for details. The shell is wool. The collar is velvet. Very classic styling for formal wear in that era. Very warm and Heavyweight. I've included some measurements on some of the pictures. Look closely.
