A vigorous grower Cleistocactus samaipatanus has narrow cylindrical green to goldRen-brown stems that have numerous small golden spines. Best grown in a hanging basket as once the stems achieve some length that will become pendant. Care; Easy to grow Cleistocactus samaipatanus likes rich well draining soil. Water well in summer but only occasionally in winter. Can take some full sun by coastal areas but prefers bright partially filtered light most locations. Hardy to 25 degrees, but grows best at 70 degrees or more. Native to; Bolivia (South America). Habitat: Widespread on rocky outcrops in forests within seasonally dry inter-Andean valleys and lowlands. It is common throughout its range. Somewhat uncommon in garden collections. Synonym(s): Bolivicereus samaipatanus, Borzicactus samaipatanus, Akersia roseiflora-(see below), Bolivicereus brevicaulis, Bolivicereus croceus, Bolivicereus rufus.
