Description: Snow Maiden (Qotsa Mana or Nuvak'chin Mana) is most often seen accompanying Hemis during the Home Dance (Niman) Ceremony. She represents the snow. Her presence is a prayer for the coming cold weather, for snow to fall over the winter so that in the springtime there will be moisture in the land for planting. The backside is carved with a signature that says CABEEN '95 and the underside is written in ink #181 Winter Snow Maiden (Hopi) This was purchased in Navajo County, AZ and has been in our family for years now. We live about 40 minutes south of the Hopi lands.
