Nice Handmade 6 TUBE COLONIAL 1790 Tin Candle Mold, Americana, Early Slant Style

Description: Particularly Early, Original Antique Tin Candle Mold, 6 Tube Size for 6 Candles, Soldered Together at the Bottom c.1790, Made by Early Tinsmith DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....A PARTICULARLY EARLY c. 1780 or earlier tin candle mold from my personal collection. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL COLONIAL ITEM AND NOT A REPRODUCTION AS OFTEN SEEN ON EBAY. This one has 6 "tubes" to make 6 candles at a time. These were an improvement and time saver over hand-dipping candles on early farms, but were rather expensive in 1700's money and not too common. It stands 10 1/2" tall x 4" wide x 3" deep. It has a rectangular top, made to hold the tubes in place and facilitate "damming" the wax during pouring. This also provides a dam to hold the wax and keep it from spilling over. It is an unusual, particularly early style given that at the bottom the tubes are held together by soldering, without a similar flat stand. Each tube is about 7/8" diameter. No tin handle, as is the case with most antique candle molds. THIS WAS HANDMADE OUT OF HEAVY TIN PLATE MATERIAL BY AN EARLY NEW ENGLAND TINSMITH AKA "TINNER". Looks very good for its early age and is in nice, very good condition overall. Nice aged tin patina. Nice, particularly early item from an early estate sale, and has been part of my personal collection. MORE THAN 240+ YEARS OLD!!!
