He won the N.L. Most Valuable Player award in 1958 and 1959, leading the league in Home Runs in 1958 and 1960; and in RBI 1958 and 1959.His Number 14 is retired by the Cubs, and he was named a member of the All-Century Team. Banks with his 514 career Home Runs, is also in the Cubs Hall of Fame. A great athlete, he played also for the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. Banks was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.
