Description: You will receive a packet of 25 Seeds from our Cranberry Hibiscuses growing in sunny Florida. Home grown naturally using regenerative growing methods with lots of love and zero chemicals, pesticides, or synthetic fertilizers. The seeds are from our most recent harvest and are fresh viable seeds ready to sow. Growing Info & TipsCranberry Hibiscus (hibiscus acetosella), also known as African Rosemallow, false Roselle and red leaf hibiscus is a very colorful & yummy addition to your garden. I adore the pop of color that it gives and love to eat the delicious leaves. It grows well in Zones 5-8 as an annual and Zones 9+ as a perennial, sensitive to frost. It is easy to grow thriving in poorer, dry soil & grows best in full sun. The beautiful reddish pink flowers are self-pollinating and day length sensitive, meaning that the flowers bloom as the days shorten towards fall. For Sowing the Cranberry Hibiscus Seeds: Sow seeds after the chance of frost has past. Ideal germination temperature is in the 75-85 degree range. Seeds can be sown directly in the ground or in pots or seed starting trays. Sow the seeds around 1/2 of an inch deep in pre-moistened potting mix. Keep soil moist but well drained in partial shade until germination, when they can be gradually moved to full sun exposure. Seeds can take up to 14-21 days to germinate so be patient! It tends to grow slowly as a seedling in the spring, then quickly when the weatherโs hot. Days to maturity is 90-120. Ideal spacing is 3ft apart. Uses, Taste & PreparationThe leaves are delicious with a mild lemon tang flavor and their burgundy red color adds a fun pop of color to salads or cooked dishes. I just love to incorporate the fresh raw leaves into out salads. Yum! The flowers are also yummy and make a nice colorful tea. Both leaves and flowers are high in antioxidants. Please Note: All of my seeds are fresh and viable. Growing plants from seeds is fun! The majority of the time it is a success but sometimes itโs not. This just is the way it is with nature and gardening. I hope you experience success with all the seeds, however because I am not there to plant them, I cannot be responsible for germination failure due to improper planting or climate conditions etc. I do include a detailed note with planting advice with your order to help ensure your success.
