Description: ANTIQUE CITRINE ENGRAVED BROOCH IN PINCHBECK SETTING-1700-1800's This beautiful, unique antique Citrine brooch is from the 1700's -1800's. It has a faceted dome stone that is engraved with what looks like "WR". This light-yellowish Citrine stone is brilliant faceted. The setting is Pinchbeck which was a metal developed in the 17th -18th century (It is a combination of zinc and copper that was used by wealthy people to fool highway robbers away from their gold jewelry). It sits in the pinchbeck setting with a braided detail surrounding the stone and is held in place with seashell design prongs. The clasp is a "C" closure indicative of the time period. There are no maker's marks. Only using a macro camera setting was I able to see some surface scratches on it which is normal wear & tear for an almost 200-year-old piece. This brooch measures 1 1/4" in length by 7/8" high. The faceted dome stone sits approx. 3/8" high. The brooch weighs 8 gms. This pretty piece was purchased in an antique shop in Belfield-In-Somerset, Bermuda in 1971 and has been kept in a smoke-free, pet-free home.
