Description: 1930s-40s Wilson Ellsworth Vines Blue Ace Wood Tennis Racquet & Press For consideration is this vintage 1930s to 1940s Wilson Wood Tennis racquet. This is the Ellsworth Vine Blue Ace model with leather wrapped handle and cat gut strings and comes with a vintage wood and metal racquet press. This belongs to a dear friend and it belonged to her mother before that and they both played tennis with it. Kept it for sentimental reasons but now that she’s in her 70s she is parting with some of her treasures. The racquet measures 27 inches long and 9 inches wide. The press is marked “AG Spalding & Bros.” and “Pat. No. 1798596”. There is another number noted on the reverse “1135-167” but I was unable to determine if it is a model number or not. The racquet shows some wear and a few broken strings (see photos) at the top and bottom of the racquet. Buyer will pay shipping on a large 29”x12”x7” box weighing 4 pounds. Thank you for looking! NOTE: Henry Ellsworth Vines, Jr., was an American tennis champion of the 1930s and the World No. 1 player or the co-No. 1 player in 1932, 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937. He was able to win Pro Slam titles on three different surfaces and later became a professional golfer. He reached the semifinals of the PGA Championship in 1951.
