Written by Alfred Dinsdale, who began a study of 'the problems of transmitting and receiving visual signals, namely television' in 1922. To this work, Dinsdale draws mostly on the work of John Logie Baird, the first scientist in the world to demonstrate television. In addition he discusses technical problems faced by early experimenters such as Jan van Szczepanik, Boris Rosing and Denoys Von Mihaly. Baird produced the first television image in outline in 1924 and transmitted the first pictures between two televisions in 1925. An exceptional copy of this work.Illustrated, with a frontispiece of Baird and eleven additional plates. Collated, complete. Dinsdale discusses the basics of the television, its history, photo electric cells and more with ease. This work is a contemporary document of an important stage of technological history.
