1879 P Morgan Dollar NGC MS62, Semi-PL Obv. w/ Dark Fields, Better Date

Description: For your consideration ... ... an 1879-P Morgan Dollar certified MS 62 by NGC. Another semi-PL Morgan -- we've seen several of these lately -- and a better-date Morgan at that. The obverse features a light, but well-defined cameo and good contrast thanks to mirrors that reach PL depth, though barely (the reverse mirrors are virtually non-existent, so the coin wouldn't have earned a PL designation regardless.) Even with borderline mirrors, the obverse does have that nice proof-like look to it, even if the cameo isn't blast write. The cameo contrast aspect really comes out beautifully in full light, though. And the coin as a whole has much stronger eye appeal than the photos indicate. Only a handful of the bag and contact marks seen on Liberty are visible in hand, and most of those are negligible marks on the lower cheek and chin. Chatter on both sides, in the fields and on devices, is typical for the grade.
