Description: This is a nice, original 1648 printing of The Eikon Basilike, The Pourtraicture of His Sacred Maiestie in His Solitude and Sufferings. An Autobiography from Charles I written before his execution following the English Civil War. Title page pre-dates first original printing in February 1649. No publisher or printer information present./ Text only, no illustration. Lacking the engraved frontispiece portrait by Marshall Leather covers with embossed borders. Gilt lettering on spine, four-ring binding. Stiff brown end pages front and back from recent reinforcing. I believe original end pages present front and back. interior pages are original. Measures 2" x 4.5" and is unpaginated. This is a smaller size than I have found listed. There is some mild surface discoloration and some wear at edges to leather boards, material and on surface leather flakes away readily. Title page darkened. Interior pages worn at edges, slightly darkened throughout. Sold as is. Please review photos and Email me with any question. A great addition to any collection!
