The engagement ring features a marquise shape diamond set in a six prong head and 36 round full cut mélange diamonds, and the band features 40 round full cut mélange diamonds. The major marquise diamond measures approximately 7.4 - 4.8 x 2.8 mm with an actual weight of 0.55 carat. This diamond is graded at I color (with medium blue fluorescence) and is eye clean with a clarity graded at SI-1. We'll call the proportions fair because it is somewhat less than a 2:1 length to width ratio and the crown (top part) of the diamond is a little shallow. But the finish is good, and overall, it is a really nice, bright, pleasing diamond! The 76 melee diamonds are bead set, flush in two rows in each ring. These accent diamonds have an estimated and manufacturer's state combined weight of 0.57 carat. They have an average color graded at G/H and average clarity graded at SI-1 and are of good overall cut. Total natural diamond weight of the set is stated at 1.12 carats. All of the diamonds in this set are 100% natural, earth mined, untreated, and unenhanced. Natural diamonds have a centuries long history of appreciating in value over time, whereas lab grown diamonds have an undeniable history of costing less and less money every year. When worn together, the set is 6.8 mm in width, and at the top the set is approximately 10 mm wide from outside of the marquise diamond's prong to outside of the band on the other side. The fineness of the platinum is not marked, but it should be AT LEAST 900 (90%) fineness. Platinum is a wonderful metal that is hypoallergenic, so it's great for sensitive skin. It also is naturally white, so it never needs to be rhodium plated. Even though the spot price of platinum is less than that of gold, platinum jewelry typically sells for more than gold because of the fineness of the metal and due to higher manufacturing costs.
